How do we do it? Well, firstly our cable designs have to take into account the properties and behaviour patterns of a wide variety of materials used in their construction. Digitale (s/pdif) kabler generelt.
Et optisk digital kabel overfører lyden digital til en D/A-konverter. I D/A konverteren bliver det digitale signal konverteret til et analog signal, som så bliver forstærket op. I modsætning til Coaxiale digital kabler som sender elektriske impulser, så sender et optisk digital kabel via lysglimt. Fordelen ved denne form for digital overførsel består i, at signalet ikke bliver forstyrret af udefra kommende støj, og der ikke opstår stelsløjfer som kan opstå ved Coaxiale digital kabler. Det vil sige at du ved lange kabeltræk, vil opnå det bedste resultat med et optisk digital kabel. Et Coaxial kabel vil derimod mange gange give et bedre resultat ved kortere kabeltræk.
Hvorfor vælge digital frem for analog.
Når du tilslutter din DVD afspiller til en digital reciever, vil det næsten være synd ikke at tilslutte komponenterne digitalt. På en DVD skive ligger lydsporet altid i digitalt form (5,1 digital). I din reciever bliver denne lyd behandlet digitalt via en såkaldt DSP (Digital Signal Processor). Hvis du bruger et analogt kabel, vil du først ødelægge de fine multi kanal spor, ved først at mixe dem ned til analogt signal, og bagefter skal DSP'en spilde yderligere kræfter på at digitalisere det allerede ødelagte signal igen.
